Bending the limits of genre classification, Phonic Wrinkle uses elements of classical, jazz, and rock to create a unique exciting sound. Consisting of three traditionally acoustic instruments, violin, cello, and trumpet alongside electric bass and drums, Phonic Wrinkle performs amplified and incorporates electronic effects for an expanded sonic palate.
Phonic Wrinkle is led by trumpeter Neil Brown, who is also the group's principal writer and arranger. The members of Phonic Wrinkle are active professional musicians in the Washington D.C. area, performing with orchestras, bands, chamber ensembles, jazz combos, folk groups, rock bands, and much more.
